How big should the engagement ring stone be?

Some things to consider when thinking about what size stone to choose for your engagement ring are: 

• ring size (the smaller the ring size the bigger the stone will appear, and vice versa)
• activity level (the bigger the stone the taller the setting will be)
• budget 
• and how much bling do you want

Ultimately this is an entirely personal decision. But to help we've created some diagrams comparing diamond/gemstone sizes in some of our styles. Carat weights are approximate. These are all pictured with a size 7 ring.
